The Inner PhD and the Inner Neophyte

The nodes in a birth chart represent critical evolutionary goals in a lifetime.

The NN and SN are polar opposites of one another. The SN is where a person has a PhD and the NN is where a person is a complete Neophyte. Learning to work that energy is critical to evolution.

The North Node is a point in a person’s birth chart that represents their soul’s purpose or mission in this lifetime, think of TRUE NORTH – it is where you are heading. In evolutionary astrology to understand a person’s life path and the lessons they have chosen to learn the Nodes are important to learn and understand.

SN, PhD: what you already know at an expert level. Think about decided what you would bring to the planet on your reincarnation … your master skills, past experience and karma you want to clear. All those are packed up in your SN house. This house is easy for you in this lifetime because you have a LOT of work to do in the NN partner’s house (you know nothing … zip).

Be aware that the NN area can be hard, anything that is new is hard compared to what you already have expertise at. Don’t fall back into the 8th house, use that expertise with intention while building the NN area.

A note to parents: It is really important for parents to understand their child’s nodes and help them cultivate the skills they need to succeed in that HOUSE. If you guide and empower them when they are young their lives will be much easier in the long run, allowing them to use that time for greater things, in service to others, the planet, inventing things to make the future better, solve health problems, etc. This will also allow you to truly see the magnificent uniqueness in each of your children. They all came with unique gifts to share with the world. They are here to share their gifts with the world, not to become carbon copies of their parents or their siblings.

The North Node area … the blank slate! Remember you are a neophyte in this area. What seems easy to others may really cause inner struggle for you. The good news is you are an infant … nurture the skills and practice, practice, practice (NN Weight Training) and build those muscles. Be your own best friend, learn compassion for yourself, learn to laugh at yourself … you are human, learning is supposed to be fun. Messing up is the best teacher because it shows you what not to do.

The nodal axis in the above chart is on the 2nd and 8th house axis. This person came into this world with experience, gifts and karma to clear in their 8th house (the house of Death, Rebirth, Transformation, Other People’s Money – ruled by Pluto, The God of the Underworld). The Underworld doesn’t scare them, they have their PhD in the 8th House.

It’s time to put the energies together and blend them up in order to get a clear picture of the energy in the 2nd house.

Energy of the 2nd House

• Bottom Layer 2nd House: Taurus ruled by Venus
• 2nd Layer: Gemini on the Cusp, ruled by Mercury (Mercury is in the 12th House)
• 3rd Layer: NN in Cancer, ruled by the Moon (Moon is in the 11th House in Aquarius)
• 4th Layer: NN is conjunct (in relationship) with Venus Retrograde (retrograde planets operate differently, the chart holder gets to do them the way they want)
• The layers can go deeper by exploring the energetic relationships with other planets in the chart but for now I think you get the idea.

The Energy is going to energetically behave differently as you add more elements to your 2nd house recipe. That is why cookie cutter astrology is nothing but nonsense. It’s one ingredient in a complex recipe that maps a personal psychology.
